“I am a visual lexicographer. I compile my own visual dictionary, and each painting is a new entry.”

SERT

A Diagram Saga

Sert’s ubiquitous roses in his paintings represent the beauty of the asymmetrical. He is mesmerised by how a flower so randomly furled and asymmetrical could be so exquisite. Each being unique, like snow crystals, roses are the general pattern the artist has set his heart and mind to draw. In his compositions, Sert plays with hues with his unique brush and painting technique to achieve a back-lit canvas look. Using manga techniques too, he juxtaposes these hues with diagram like figures —always with the roses—generally depicted in rugged landscapes. In a way, Sert, an acomplished linguist, designs diagrams and creates entries for his visual dictionary, which will continue for a lifetime. Hence, he calls himself “the visual lexicographer.”

Roses of All Manners

Sert's fascination with crafting imaginary roses goes beyond intricate layers; it breathes life into distinct personalities.

FLOATING NESTS

The Moon & The Sun

The sun and the moon is often the chaperon in Sert’s paintings setting the overall atmosphere, including light, season, and mood.
