“I am a visual lexicographer. I compile my own visual dictionary, and each painting is a new entry.”

SERT

A Diagram Saga

Sert’s ubiquitous roses in his paintings represent the beauty of asymmetry. He is mesmerized by how a flower, so randomly furled and asymmetrical, can be so exquisite. Each one is unique, like a snowflake; roses form the general motif the artist has set his heart and mind on depicting. Using manga techniques as well, he creates diagram-like scenes—often featuring roses—typically set in rugged and futuristic landscapes. In a way, Sert, an accomplished linguist, designs diagrams and composes entries for his visual dictionary using manga aesthetics. Hence, he calls himself “the visual lexicographer.”

Roses of All Manners

Sert's fascination with crafting imaginary roses goes beyond intricate layers; it breathes life into distinct personalities.

FLOATING NESTS

The Moon & The Sun

The sun and the moon is often the chaperon in Sert’s paintings setting the overall atmosphere, including light, season, and mood.
